L’expression et l’inexprimé
- Nous ne parvenons jamais à dire pleinement ce que nous voulons dire, ce qui conduit souvent aux tentations de renoncer à toute parole, ou de nier l’écart entre l’expression et l’inexprimé. Or peut-être est-il de l’essence de la parole de ne pas se réduire au « langage » stricto sensu, mais d’impliquer une polarité entre parole et silence. « L’acheminement vers la parole » (Heidegger) a besoin des «voix du silence » (Malraux, Merleau-Ponty), sous les multiples formes philosophique, littéraire et artistique.
- Au plan onto-phénoménologique et esthétique, n’en est-il pas de même, de la polarité entre « image » et « essence », entre « forme » et « sans-forme » ? Classicisme et romantisme nous ont habitué à opposer le « beau » et le « sublime » (Kant), la « belle forme » apollinienne et la destruction dionysiaque des formes (Nietzsche). Mais si l’on ne veut, ni transformer les formes et les images en idoles auto-référentes, ni vouloir dépasser toute image (au risque de la disparition de tout apparaître), la voie de l’icône comme celle de l’analogie, doit plutôt conduire à vivre d’une tension entre ce qui se montre et ce qui se retire de la monstration.
- Que l’apophatisme doive se faire sentir au coeur de toute expression donne à penser une essence indirecte de la parole, de l’image et de la forme, dont l’expressivité est conditionnée par un mouvement de retrait de l’Origine. On ne doit donc se fixer ni sur ce retrait seul, ni sur l’expression seule, mais tenter d’exprimer le mouvement par lequel tout processus d’expression ouvre l’espace d’une rencontre et d’un dialogue où se mêlent sans cesse l’exprimé et l’inexprimé, ce qui est donné et ce qui est attendu.
